Derin Patel, MD, is a board-certified Internal Medicine Physician at Hillside Primary Care. With offices in the Stone Oak, Southside, and North Star neighborhoods of San Antonio and in Castle Hills, New Braunfels, Schertz, and Live Oak, Texas, patients can choose locations nearest them. Dr. Patel sees patients at the Live Oak office.
After graduating from Ross University’s School of Medicine in North Brunswick Township, New Jersey, he completed his residency training at the University of Kentucky for Internal Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky.
Dr. Patel practiced as a hospitalist in Owensboro, Kentucky, for two years and then in Evansville, Indiana, before moving to Texas and starting his own practice in 2018.
His passion for educating his patients on their plans of care while taking the time to listen to them makes Dr. Patel a caring and compassionate physician. He has over 10 years of experience providing Adult Primary Care and Comprehensive Family Medicine.

Dr. Patel is a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician. She completed her medical education from Ross University School of Medicine in 2009 and completed her Residency training at University of Kentucky in 2012. She has been a practicing Internal Medicine physician for the past six years. Dr. Patel grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and now lives in San Antonio. She has served as the Medical Director for several Hospitalist Programs in the past and currently serves as the Medical Director for Hillside Primary Care in San Antonio, Texas.
Garrick Naylor is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner at Hillside Primary Care. With offices in the Stone Oak, Southside, and North Star neighborhoods of San Antonio and Castle Hills, New Braunfels, Schertz, and Live Oak, Texas, patients can choose locations nearest them.
Garrick is originally from Brownsville, Texas. He obtained his undergraduate education through the University of Texas at Brownsville (UTRGV) in Brownsville, Texas, gaining experience in the long-term care setting and for over six years in the critical care realm.
In 2015, Garrick moved to San Antonio to continue working in the intensive care unit. A growing desire for preventive care led him to pursue his Advanced Practice education through the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) in Arlington, Texas.
Garrick is fluent in English and Spanish and endeavors to provide quality, compassionate care as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Hillside Primary Care.
In his free time, Garrick enjoys watching movies, hiking, and, most importantly, traveling with his wife.
Victoria Sabrsula, PA-C, is an NCCPA certified Physician Assistant at Hillside Primary Care. With offices in the Stone Oak, Southside, and North Star neighborhoods of San Antonio and Castle Hills, New Braunfels, Schertz, and Live Oak, Texas, patients can choose locations nearest them.
Victoria received a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UT Health) in San Antonio, Texas.
Victoria is passionate about preventive care and promoting healthy lifestyles in each patient, which led her to practice primary care. She takes a conservative and comprehensive approach.
In her free time, Victoria enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on the Aggies (whoop), and playing with her two puppies.
She warmly welcomes all patients into Hillside Primary Care and looks forward to caring for them.
Roy is a US Army Veteran with over 20 years nursing experience in emergency and critical care and a resident of Schertz for the past ten years. He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2020 as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
His experiences in nursing have reinforced the need for exceptional primary care, and he is thrilled to be part of team dedicated to that goal. He enjoys time spent with his family and looks forward to taking care of the members of the community.
Mrs. Kristen Collins is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who was born and raised in West Texas. Across her 17 years in healthcare, she has worked her way from the community setting to neonatal intensive care, spent time as a nursing director, and has now found a passion in Primary Care. She prides herself in providing evidence based, compassionate and quality care to all of her patients. She enjoys taking care of women for their preventive care needs and hormone replacement therapy.
In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Robert “Danny” Hernandez, FNP is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. He was born and raised in San Antonio, TX but also lived part of his life in Southern California. He earned his Bachelor’s in Nursing at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2016. He worked as an RN for six years before getting his Masters in Science in Nursing in 2021 from UT Arlington.
Danny strives to promote a higher quality of life in his patients by providing excellent evidenced-based care. Danny is a car enthusiast and enjoys playing with his daughter, cooking, and relaxing with his family with movie.
Patricia is a Nationally Board Certified Physician Assistant, originally from Corpus Christi, Texas. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2002 from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. She then received her Master's of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2008 from the University of New England in Portland, Maine. She has over 12 years’ experience in pediatrics, primary care, internal medicine, urgent care, industrial medicine, and has a great passion for preventative and chronic care. She has been a resident of the Schertz/Cibolo area for over 5 years now and is excited to return to the Hillside Primary Care team and our patients.
In her free time, she thoroughly enjoys time with friends and family especially with her husband and two active children.
Mrs. Karen Johnson is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Karen received her Master’s of Science in Nursing degree and Family Nurse Practitioner certification in 2009 from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Prior to credentialing as a Nurse Practitioner she worked as a critical care nurse for over 20 years within the Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio. She spent several years working as a Family Nurse Practitioner on the southside of San Antonio in a Family Practice Clinic.
Karen is a long-time resident of the Schertz/Cibolo area with all three of her children graduating from Samuel Clemens High School. After working numerous years in the San Antonio area, she decided to serve her local community by providing care to the residents of the Schertz/Cibolo community. She opened her own practice three years ago and is now merging with Hillside Primary Care Clinic in order to expand her career in the Schertz/Cibolo area.
Karen’s goal is to improve and maintain the overall health of each patient through providing high-quality care, preventative care, and early detection of disease. She has a passion for her patients and treats them all as family.
Flo is a Board-Certified Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner who was born and raised in Michigan where she began her nursing career and has over 16 years of nursing experience.
Flo Graduated in 2017 with a Masters of Science and Nursing Degree from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. She decided to go back to school for an Advanced Practice degree to better serve the healthcare community in a different capacity after her parents began to develop different medical issues that needed to be managed.
She has a 30 year and counting military career where she started out as a medical supply specialist, moved on to being a field medic, and now a nurse which displays her passion for healthcare and taking care of others.
She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to church, and getting on her cat (Bernice) nerves.
Fatima El Maanaoui a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, originally from Casablanca, Morocco. I moved to USA in 2009 and decided to pursue my career in healthcare. I obtained my undergraduate education through IHCC in Iowa, and my master's in nursing education through WGU. I acquired 6 years of experience in Intensive, telemetry and medical surgical care., and I also worked as a nurse educator for 2 years. After 6 years of bedside care, I decided to return to school and obtain my FNP degree through Graceland University, Lamoni. IA. I understood that being a primary care provider will give me the opportunity to make an impact in my patients’ overall health, by providing evidence-based care and preventative care services. I am fluent in English, Spanish, Arabic and French.
On my free time, I enjoy reading mystery books, traveling, and spending quality time with my loved ones.
Courtney Flores is a family nurse practitioner from Colorado who moved to Texas in 2017. She has been working in healthcare over 15 years, with experience in telemetry, med/surg, bariatrics, and neuro- trauma. She has worked as a charge nurse, nursing coordinator, and preceptor. She started her journey in primary care in 2021 and is passionate about providing quality, evidence-based and preventative care to her patients. In her spare time she loves reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and dog, Kona.
Huy (formally pronounced “HWEE”, and informally as “Huey”) is a Nationally Board Certified Physician Assistant, born and raised in Richardson, Texas. He is a Marine Corps veteran, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development from The University of Texas at Austin in 2015 and then a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2022.
Huy is passionate about providing high quality, evidence based care for each patient, with an emphasis on taking the time to address the unique needs and concerns of each patient. In his free time, Huy will talk endlessly about dogs, fishing, camping, and volleyball.
Juan Carlos Perez, FNP-C, is an AANP Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner born in Mexico who now resides in San Antonio, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2017, worked in the long-term care setting for three years, and advanced his education by obtaining his Master of Science in Nursing at The University of Texas at Arlington in 2022. Then, Mr. Perez joined Hillside Primary Care in March of 2023 to provide culturally competent, holistic, evidence-based practice care.
Mr. Perez enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, Carlos and Thiago. He also likes to spend time fishing, swimming, and hiking.
Also, Mr. Perez enjoys attending the local church on the weekends and interacting with the community. Lastly, Mr. Perez believes in helping people during their most vulnerable conditions.
Adams-Jeffrey Blanco, PA-C is a NCCPA Board Certified Physician Assistant who was born in San Jose, California and now resides in San Antonio, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences in 2015, worked in the laboratory with hematology and chemistry for 6 years and then earned his Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at The University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley in 2021. He joined Hillside Primary Care in March 2023 to help perform procedures such as Joint Injection, Skin Biopsy, Trigger Point Injection, Headache Injections and more.
Adam is a health and fitness enthusiast who enjoys lifting weights and training martial arts including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well as spending quality time with his wife and son. He is passionate about educating patients regarding lifestyle changes that could make a positive impact on their overall health, including nutrition, exercise, adequate sleep and hydration to improve patients quality of life in addition to providing excellent healthcare with evidence-based medicine.
